Congratulations to Dr. Lauren Micalizzi who has recently been named Associate Editor of the Journal of Child and Family Studies. The journal is an international, peer-reviewed forum for topical issues pertaining to the behavioral health and well-being of children, adolescents, and their families. They are interdisciplinary and ecological in approach that focuses on individual, family, and community contexts that influence child, youth, and family well-being and translates research results into practical applications for providers, program implementers, and policymakers.
Dr. Micalizzi is currently an Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences and completed a T32 fellowship funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at Brown University’s Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies in 2019 and was granted a K01 career development award to study the effects of exposure to maternal cigarette smoking during pregnancy on the development of self-regulation (executive functioning, effortful control, emotion regulation), externalizing problems (the initiation and escalation of substance use, ADHD, conduct problems), and internalizing problems (anxiety, depression) across early adolescence.
