New Research Assistants Join the CAAS Team

Welcome Bianca Camacho and Emily Alton, our newest research assistants at CAAS!

Bianca Camacho

Bianca Camacho is in her last semester at Brown University where she will be graduating with degrees in Neuroscience and Science, Technology, and Society. She is currently working with Dr. Patricia Cioe's research team on Project PNAV, a peer navigator model to improve quit attempts and smoking cessation rates among HIV-positive smokers. Prior to working with Dr. Cioe, Bianca was a Student Research Assistant for Teresa DeAtley in the SHARE Lab where she helped investigate the biopsychosocial factors associated with cigarette and e-cigarette use in smokers with Affective Disorders. Bianca is excited to begin her studies at Brown's Alpert Medical School in 2022!

Emily Alton

Emily Alton, MA, a 2020 graduate of Rhode Island College, with a MA in Psychology, has joined CAAS as a new Research Assistant. Emily will be working in Dr. Patricia Cioe's lab on Project Preload, a clinical trial examining the efficacy of starting nicotine replacement therapy prior to quit date in smokers with HIV. She will also be working in Dr. Christopher Kahler's lab on the ReACH-3 project.

Gabriel Muro

Recent University of Pennsylvania graduate, Gabriel Muro, BA, is joining the Center for Addiction and Disease Risk Exacerbation (CADRE) team! Gabe will be contributing to Dr. Hayley Treloar Padovano's research program as a research assistant. In this position, Gabe will be coordinating participant recruitment and biobehavioral data collection for the Pathways study involving a psychosocial intervention for individuals with alcohol-associated liver disease.
